Inspections

Positive Flow is committed to giving you superior customer service, and one of the most important ways we do that is top of the line inspections. Whether it is a sewer lateral, drain, or smoke test, we always provide thorough inspection reports and video footage to give you a 360 degree look into the pipes below your home or commercial property.

Sewer Lateral Report

A Sewer Lateral Inspection uses a long camera to view the condition of the pipe between the house and the mainline sewer, which, in most cases, is the homeowners responsibility.  If left untreated, problems in the sewer line can cost tens of thousands of dollars in the long run.

Most commonly found defects include:

  • Low Areas: Also known as a ‘belly or sag,’ low areas can collect water and solid waste, causing fats, oils, and grease to cling to the pipe.
  • Offsets: On some older piping, sections in the piping can separate, causing an offset where solid waste may not clear and cause further settlement or breakdown.
  • Tree Roots: Small gaps in sections of piping allow tree roots to enter the sewer line and cause breaks or cracks.
  • Cracks/Breaks: Stress and old age can cause fractures, breaks, and corrosion of your pipes.
  • Debris: Construction debris or other items can become lodged in the sewer line and obstruct the flow of waste.

Video & Pipe Inspections

At Positive Flow Drain, video inspection services always include a recording and data reporting completed by a NASSCO certified technician.

Benefits of a Video & Pipe Inspection:

  1. Peace of Mind – Our sewer cameras help to quickly and accurately identify any issues before they become more significant problems.
  2. Cleaning Tool – When used in conjunction with a cleaning service, the camera gives us eyes inside the pipe to ensure all obstructions were removed.
  3. Home Inspections – Having more information about your future home can help you avoid unforeseen costly repairs.
  4. Second Opinion – Our camera inspections help to determine whether or not costly repair or replacement services are required.
  5. Remodeling Preparation – Mapping out and assessing conditions with our cameras can be invaluable before any remodeling work is done.

Smoke Testing

If you are experiencing a sewer odor in your home or commercial space, you may want to consider a smoke test. The process is simple and can save you from headaches in the future. Specialized equipment is used to introduce smoke into the sanitary system. The goal is to inundate the system with smoke to pinpoint the faulty area in-home or structure. If smoke is found inside the structure, that would indicate a breach in the sewer system. Once the problem is identified, we can present solutions. The smoke candles used during this process are non-toxic to both humans and animals. The most common odor problems we find are broken / cracked sewer pipes, deteriorated toilet seals, and evaporated trap seals.

Drain Cleaning

Offering only professionally trained and certified technicians, we will inspect, unclog, and clean all of the drains in your home or commercial property to get them working like new as soon as possible. Positive Flow is committed to work with you and provide guidance to help prevent future issues or repeat occurrences.

Drain Snaking

A drain snake, also known as a mechanical cable or drain auger, is made of a flexible steel wire that rotates down into the drain line to clear blockages. When the cutter head encounters an obstruction, it builds up torque to punch through and release the clog. Drain snaking can be applied to a variety of areas, like:

  • Toilet Clogs
  • Kitchen Drain
  • Laundry Drain
  • Bathtub Drain
  • Lavatory Sink
  • Main Drain

The mechanical cable is a tried and true method of clearing clogs; however, due industry innovations, the drain snake is generally ineffective when dealing with heavy tree root infestation, F.O.G (fats, oils, and grease) and soft paper/ muck blockages.

High Speed Milling

High-speed milling, which is also known as flex-shaft technology, is an innovative drain cleaning equipment that is different from a traditional drain snaking. Drain snakes are commonly used for dislodging blockages, whereas the high-speed milling cables have specialized cutter heads (known as chain-knockers) to clean and polish the interior of the pipe. Milling is used for fast and efficient drain cleaning, including soft blockages, scale & calcium buildup, and tree roots, as well as other imperfections in the pipe.

We use our milling equipment to gently grind away buildup commonly found inside older, heavily corroded, cast iron pipes. If appropriately used in conjunction with our video and water jetting equipment, we can remove scale and buildup effectively without causing additional damage to the pipe. It’s an excellent way to get your pipes working at their best, so be sure to contact Positive Flow to find out if you’re a candidate for this rehabilitation service.

Water Jetting

Water jetting is a sewer cleaning process that utilizes a low volume of water under high pressure (up to 3000 PSI), which can protect the pipe from unnecessary damage. Jets of water delivered from the nozzle break up material and scour the walls of the pipes, leaving you with a shiny like-new pipe. The robust process of water jetting can cut its way through years of hardened sludge, grease, hair, and debris or even cut through tree root infesting your sewer line. This concept of high-pressure cleaning is a proven solution for safe and effective drain cleaning and keeping your plumbing worry-free.

Evaluations

Positive Flow knows how hard it can be to find someone you trust to work on parts of your home that you cannot even see. Taking care of your drain system is a lot different than hiring someone to paint your home because the results are not easily seen. Positive Flow offers evaluation services so that you can feel comfortable about any services that are being completed in your home.

Free Estimate

Positive Flow offers all of our clients a free estimate. We will come to your location and evaluate which services and approach will be the best for you. Each of our estimates are completely customized and based on your specific needs. We know how scary it can be to let someone work on your home without knowing the full scale of how much it might cost. That is why Positive Flow offers our pre-estimate service that can help put both your mind and wallet at ease.

While the vast majority of our estimates end up being our customer’s bottom line, we cannot guarantee anything until we are able to take a look and see exactly what is going on. Before proceeding with any services that were not outlined in your pre-estimate, Positive Flow will make sure to speak with you and give you the necessary information needed to make a decision about proceeding with your project.

Maintenance Programs

If you’re a homeowner, you may want to consider a preventive maintenance program to protect and maintain the integrity of your drain system. Especially if there has been a history of tree roots or a low spot (sag) in your sewer line, periodic water jet cleanings will keep the roots from infesting the pipe and also keeps the fats, oils, and grease from building up. Routine maintenance will give you some peace of mind and save you thousands in the long run by keeping your sewer clean and clog-free.

If you own or operate a commercial building, you know just how much use the plumbing system gets used daily. When it comes to drain clogs, it is only a matter of time before the drains become clogged with hair, grease, organic material, and/or mineral deposits. By enrolling in our drain maintenance program, the likelihood of dealing with blockages or clogs decreases significantly and will undoubtedly save you money in the long term.
